A single Swallow
Against peerless blue
A lacy cloud
And pigeon's call
Far away in the wood
On a distant hill.

Yet everywhere
The world's aflame!
And cruelty rife,
Not far from here.

This hallowed moment
No blemish bears
Of tortured heart
And anguished cries
As diamond bright
The swallow flies.

This dream is weft
With nightmare's warp
The woven cloth
A lacy stole

Yet death eschews
Such fripperies,
Un-swathes the babe
Not yet born

While swallow
Skims through peerless blue
And deeper hush
On valley lies

War and peace
On earth and sky.
But the space in between
Is where I fly.
